Beethoven and Dvořák
March 29, 2017 | 7 pm | Hunt Memorial Building
BEETHOVEN Piano Trio in D Major, Op. 70, No. 1 "Ghost"
BRAHMS Piano Trio Op. 87, No. 2 in C Major
DVOŘÁK Slavonic Dance Op. 46, No. 2 in E Minor
Symphony NH and the Hunt Memorial Building are partnering to present an evening with violin, cello, and piano. Beethoven's "Ghost" piano trio is so titled for its slow and eerie middle movement (listen to it here). Brahms' Piano Trio No. 2 is a piece the composer was actually pleased with - something uncharacteristic of Brahms. This trio highlights musical contests between the violin and cello playing together with interjections by the piano. Dvořák's Slavonic Dance in E Minor is from a collection of 16 dances. This dance begins with a contemplative melody but quickly shows listeners the true, playful nature of Dvořák's Slavonic Dances.
Metered parking is available on Main Street, Lowell Street, Clinton Street, and Railroad Square. RSVP is required for this event.
