Symphony NH presents Durga Krishnan and Gaurishankar Chandrashekhar performing an evening of classical Indian music.  Enjoy light refreshments and concert of exceptional artistry at a private home in Nashua.  Only 75 tickets are available.  Attendees will receive the address with RSVP confirmation.

About the Musicians


Durga Krishnan

A graduate of Carnatic Music College of Chennai, India with degrees including one as an advanced Teacher's certificate, Durga Krishnan has been teaching music for over 4 decades now. She has been living and teaching and performing in the Boston area since 1977 and has had many successful arangetrams. She also gives lecture demonstrations and work shops in well known educational institutes in the Boston area including, Harvard University, Boston University, Tufts, Berklee College of Music and Wellesley. She has given several such lecture demonstrations at the Museum of Fine Arts and her veena music will be featured on their web site as well as in an e-book of all the instruments they have in their collection starting from August of this year.

Durga Krishnan is also on the board of prestigious organizations that promote music in the Boston area such as MITHAS and LearnQuest Academy of Music. She is also the Cultural Director of Chinmaya Mission, Boston and organizes concerts by very well known artists from India and also from our very own local area.

Durga Krishnan has been a very effective and sought after teacher of veena and vocal music and her several of her students have won prizes in competitions run by CMANA and the Cleveland Thyagaraja Aradhana.

She has composed and performed music for several dance productions for our local dance teachers and is a constant promoter of the Carnatic Music in our area.


Gaurish Chandrashekhar

Gaurish Chandrashekhar has learnt mridangam from eminent mridangists Sri.K.Kalyanakrishnan (disciple of Tanjore Upendran),late Sri.Trichy Raghava Iyer and Kalaimamani Sri.Tiruvavur Bhaktavatsalam. He has over two decades of experience supporting many leading artists in concerts and dance ensembles. He has conducted lec-dems at the premier Berklee School of Music, collaborated with Bluegrass & Jazz artists including a recording for Boston Boston Symphony Orchestra's Classical Companion web project to encourage young composers.Gaurish has been teaching students, this fine art of percussion and his students have won and continue to win awards at the Cleveland Aradhana and CMANA competitions.In 2014, he was awarded a grant through Massachusetts Cultural Councils' - 'Keepers of Tradition' program as a Master artist. He is also passionate about playing instruments such as flute, dholak, congos, morsing (Jews harp) and kanjira.
